Presented by Scott Matthews, Sr., CMCA, AMS, FirstService Residential and Dave Timko, CMCA, AMS, Pocono Farms Country Club Community Association Self managed or management company – which is right for you? There is not a “one size fits all” when speaking about or considering to be a self managed community or engaging a management company. There are pros and cons to each based on the communities individual needs. This program will explore some of the items to consider when making the decision on which style is best for your community.
Dave Timko, General Manager of Pocono Farms Country Club Association, Inc. will speak to the pros and cons of being self managed with an employed FT General Manager, while Scott Matthews, Regional Director, First Service Residential, will present the pros and cons of engaging a management company.
This program will allow for participant interaction, engagement, and questions. Breakout Session 2: Use of Drones in Community Associations Presented by Kathryn Newell, IDS Drones Drones have significant uses in a community association setting, from detailed reports, to all types of property inspections, including roofs, gutters, sidewalks and parking lots and curb, appeal inspections, and more. This session will cover these uses, as well as the following important topics:
- Drone safety and FAA regulations for flying drones
- The different types of drones and drone applications that can be used for data capture and how that data can be useful
- Why drones are an efficient and cost-effective alternative
10:55 AM to 11:15 AM Break 11:15 to 12:15 PM Closing Session Life Guards in Community Pools Panel Discussion with Jason Cerkan, A Pocono Country Place, Phyllis Haase, Penn Estates What are the risks of having or not having lifeguards at your community pool and / or beach? If you choose not to have lifeguards, what can you do to regulate and monitor behavior at your pools and beaches? This course is by the Community Association Managers International Certification Board (CAMICB) to fulfill continuing education requirements for the CMCA® certification. This course will earn managers (3) continuing education credit hours.
