As a result of COVID-19, associations have been forced to operate by written and electronic means. But in the absence of state legislative changes that permit the continued practice of electronic voting and meetings once the State of Emergency is rescinded, how can your association update your documents to insure that when the pandemic ends, the positive aspects of virtual meetings can remain? Whether its electronic voting, virtual board meetings, virtual annual meetings, or any other virtual community event, there are steps that need to be followed so the meeting format is correct and legally binding. This session will explore the authority of associations to conduct electronic voting, as well as the amendments or resolutions necessary to prevent procedural challenges. This presentation will also look at what Roberts Rules of Order has to say about these changes. RRO is the de facto standard for how meeting should be run, and there is an entire section related to electronic meetings.
