Opening Session: Wellness in Our Community: Why Leaders Need to Address Mental Health

Given events such as the recent tragedy in Atlanta where a homeowner shot and killed a condominium manager, the importance of addressing mental health in our communities is apparent. This interactive presentation will introduce participants to how mental health can create a safe and thriving community. We'll give you a basic overview of mental health, including common issues that are relevant to communities.  We'll discuss the impact of these issues, tips for addressing mental health, and practical resources that you can utilize.

Topics to Be Covered:

  • Overview of mental health, including some common issues that are relevant to community members
  • How mental health can negatively impact job performance and satisfaction
  • What you stand to gain by addressing employee and owner mental health
  • Some do's and don'ts for addressing mental health in your community
  • Practical resources that you can utilize

Presented by:

Ryan P. Skimmons, MS, BR Training and Education, LLC
Brienne Jennings, MA, CGRS, BR Training and Education, LLC

Session 2: Protecting You & Your Owners from Violent Crime

Violent crime has been on the rise since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. Representatives from the Philadelphia Police Department will discuss how managers and homeowners can protect yourselves and your communities from gun violence and other violent crime.

Presented by Jesse O’Shea, Community Liaison Officer, Philadelphia Police Department

Closing Session: Safeguarding Your Buildings & Communities

When talking about residential security, the most important thing is personal safety for yourself and your loved ones. It also encompasses theft of property and risk-cost ratio. In the security personnel business we like to say we push the bad guys down the street. (we can’t lock them up, but we can keep them away from you.)  This presentation will address the security needs of each residential segment, including:

  • Highrise security
  • Smaller shared entry communities
  • Gated communities
  • Larger drive thru residential communities

This presentation will provide realistic security solutions in 3 ways:

  1. What can your residents due to best protect themselves and their properties?
  2. What can technology offer?
  3. What can hired staff: front desk/concierge personnel or security guards offer?

Presented by:

Judy Dixon, Allied Universal Services
Michael Madden, Allied Universal Services
Justin Gill, Allied Elevator
